We're proud to bring back the brand-new 70mm print of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY on July 21 and July 22! After selling out all of our May and June screenings of Stanley Kubrick's epic masterpiece, we worked hard behind the scenes to get a few more screenings added for you this summer.
Ticket prices are $12 general; $9 Student/Senior, Friend, and Director members; and free for Producer, Benefactor, and Visionary members. Sorry, no guest passes or member guest passes are accepted for this special engagement. If you have any trouble purchasing your tickets, feel free to get in touch with Christen at email@example.com.
This summer, we will screen two new anime films, for which, due to studio restrictions, we are unable to offer member comps or discounts. The first is HAIKARA-SAN: HERE COMES MISS MODERN, screening on Friday, June 8 at 7:00pm; the second is MAQUIA: WHEN THE PROMISED FLOWER BLOOMS, screening on Friday, July 20 at 7:00pm. Tickets for both screenings are $15 for all audience members. No guest passes or member guest passes accepted.
On Saturday, June 9 at 7:00pm, we're showing a 35mm print of Stanley Kubrick's FULL METAL JACKET in tribute to R. Lee Ermey (1944-2018) and his pivotal performance as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. We're thrilled to announce that Leon Vitali, Kubrick's long-time assistant and Ermey's acting coach on the film, will join us for a Q&A after the screening.
After playing Lord Bullingdon in BARRY LYNDON, Leon Vitali walked away from a promising acting career to spend the next 20 years working as Stanley Kubrick's assistant. Vitali worked closely with the legendary director, often working 18- to 24-hour days to help complete films such as THE SHINING, FULL METAL JACKET, and EYES WIDE SHUT. Since the director's death in 1999, Vitali has served a pivotal role in the preservation of Kubrick's work.
This is an incredible opportunity to hear about Stanley Kubrick's creative process, as well as learn more about R. Lee Ermey's remarkable performance from Vitali's perspective.
Before this special screening, be sure to visit the Theatre to watch the new documentary FILMWORKER for a glimpse into Vitali's unparalleled work ethic and impact on Stanley Kubrick's legacy. FILMWORKER is showing at the Theatre through June 6.
Tickets for FULL METAL JACKET and FILMWORKER are $9 general admission; $7 for Student/Senior members; $6 for Friend and Director members; and complimentary for Producer, Benefactor, and Visionary members. Guest passes will be accepted for these screenings. Claim your FULL METAL JACKET tickets here and your FILMWORKER tickets here.
Friday, July 27 at 7:30pm, as part of our Wyrd War Presents series, we're welcoming cult director Jeff Lieberman for SUMMER BUMMER, a double feature retrospective of his most unhinged creations, BLUE SUNSHINE (1977) and JUST BEFORE DAWN (1981). Because this is a special visiting artist event, ticket prices are as follows: $15 general admission and $12 for members. Sorry, no guest passes or member guest passes are accepted.
